I like teams of people doing things in space, especially when there's a hot woman in a tank top with a gun. Interested in space, white collar crime (other people's), languages, 90s SF, tall ships, urban legends and austere medicine. They/she.🍉

I relish every time you get to see Olympians race normal people who you can see what world class athleticism looks like on a relatable scale
Shelly-Ann racing in her kid's Parents Day race at the school is the funniest thing I've seen all week LMAO

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

“So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Some nice work by @sydney.edu.au PhD student Jadon Lin and his collaborators, reviewing photonic lightsails and their potential for interstellar exploration.

Advantage: can travel closer to the speed of light than any existing space craft.

Disadvantage: very hard to make!

I am also upset about the recent ICE kidnappings AND I think it's important to note that the US government has been illegally kidnapping people and sending them abroad for years. They're just doing it brazenly and against court orders now, and the targets of the xenophobia have shifted.

I feel like panicking and I was not in control of this situation and I could see at least ten instances now where I’d made wrong decisions and being in control of the situation was really important because otherwise it was in control of me

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work.

On this day, April 12, 1961 — Yuri Gagarin, soared into orbit — 327 kilometers high for 108 minutes.

For the first time in our history, a human left its blue cradle and floated above oceans and continents, above borders and wars, and saw Earth as it truly is: one world.

The opinions of ostensibly progressive people unhappy about Murderbot Diaries casting because "That isn't what someone who doesn't identify as any gender should look like," is really opening up a deep well of feelings for me as a person failing to be the nice androgynous kind of non-binary.
