My Banded Chink Shell, doing a splendid job of keeping its tank clean 😁🐚

I was given some shells from Bexhill on Sea. One of the Netted Dog Whelks had a suspicious hole in the side. I suspect another mollusc has rasped a hole in it to eat the Netted Dog Whelk through the side of its shell... A closer view reveals the rasp marks round the edge of the very neat hole.

Delighted to see a small charm of Goldfinches eating the seeds from the Lemon Balm ☺

Also in my tiny marine tank I have quite a few marine 'woodlice' - this one I suspect is a juvenile Idotea granulosa.

A mysterious worm with a fine pinstripe that I found in my tiny marine tank. No idea what it is or what it does, I've never seen it do anything apart from flinch slightly when I touched it gently - which I did to find out if it was alive! It's got bigger so it must be feeding on something somehow...

Another interesting aphid, the Italian Alder Aphid Crypturaphis grassii. This is the wingless form - I've never seen the winged variety, which looks much more like a traditional aphid than this strange flattened creature.

Here's a interesting thing.... about 4 weeks ago I found hundreds of Sycamore Aphids on these trees (they are Sycamore) busy laying their eggs. Today I noticed what looked like black mould on the bark, but on closer inspection I found each black patch is a clutch of aphid eggs!

Inside those brown patches on the Horse Chestnut leaves are little silken purses containing Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner moth pupae, which will overwinter inside the leaves before emerging in the spring.

Orange Ladybird. With the transparent edge to their bits and pieces, I think they look like they are inside a jelly mould that's not quite been filled up to the top 😁

Yay! It's Winter Semi-slug season 😁 Pellucid Glass Snail - Vitrina pellucida, the silly tiny snail that's too big to fit in its own shell...

Only 3 moths in the trap last night, a wonderfully fluffy December Moth, the aptly named Snout and a teeny-tiny Phyllonorycter messaniella, a leaf miner.

So, here I am - seeing what the water is like over here. Here's a weeny stalked jellyfish that I found in my tiny marine tank the other day. I had no idea such things existed until recently.
