THREAD

Next Saturday's #NoKings protests need everyone possible. They're playing this card, and if the protests are big and visible enough, we've taken away their power. Go to nokings.org to find a spot near you. There are a bunch near me.

Dropped one more moth night for good measure, July 19th.

The first 3 sold out, so if you missed out on those, get tickets now. This is the last one, I already wasn't sure whether to do a 4th, so there won't be a 5th.

It’s 9am TFT time here, and citizens are already gathering to protest Tariffs by the United States. Our plain clothes Officer Penguins are attempting to maintain calm, but unfortunately we keep losing them in the crowd.

Firings are happening right now at the National Science Foundation. Essential staff are being cut.

This isn’t about the budget. If it was, they’d be going after the military (17%) or state appropriations (38%). NSF is 0.7% of the federal budget. All federal employees make up only 4% of the budget.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”
Yesterday many thousands of federal employees were terminated. This is a Reddit thread for federal employees that got laid off.

Splitting this off because it's not directly related:

It was *already hard* to stay in our fields before they started terminating funding for everybody and firing federal scientists.
