I’m an IP barrister and an academic. Intellectual property, technology, privacy law is my thing. And gardening, orchids and choral music. Brexit was and is an economic catastrophe for the United Kingdom. Rejoin Now. I voted Yes to the Voice.
Part of the response is to give Fail grades to students who plainly haven’t read the course materials, who repeat fabricated law as fact and whose analysis of legal problems is worthless . “Ethical” use of generative AI - hah! More like you’ll be fired or on professional misconduct charges or both.

That’s why I’ve asked to use that quote too. They hear enough from me on the subject of legal analysis in trade marks law. It lets them know I Am Not Alone on use of AI. If you haven’t learned the lessons, not developed critical thinking skills then you’ll find it very hard to detect AI bullshit.

Martin, may I use this quote - with attribution of course? This is the message I need to deliver to postgraduate law students. Some of them think studying the course materials is optional, that we can’t detect it, if they cite fake authorities for propositions of law they plainly don’t understand.

But apparently everyone is too hung over from New Years Eve. A better date is 3 March to commemorate the Australia Acts 1986 coming into force on 3 March 1986. That’s when Australia finally became fully sovereign and independent from the UK. It’s the end of summer, beginning of autumn. Perfect! (3)

But an even better date for Australia Day is 3 March, to commemorate 3 March 1986 when the Australia Act 1986 came into force. That’s the day when Australia became a fully sovereign nation and completely independent from the United Kingdom. (3)

I have difficulty celebrating it as a result. Especially as there are much better dates to celebrate the foundation of Australia as a nation. The 1st of January when the Australian Constitution came into effect on 1 January 1901.

The Navajo will be obliged to carry their ID papers all the time to prove their citizenship of the USA - for the crime of walking about while brown. While Navajo country is their inalienable birthright from which they cannot be removed … it makes no sense.

It was only last year that they finally let me donate blood in Australia. Huh, BSE. Good ole British O negative wasn’t good enough for them.

I was certainly a right little tit when I was in the TikTok teen demographic.

Yes. One of his billionaire buddies will be allowed to buy buy it. Apparently then it will be alright to make use of all that user data

Still available outside the US.

“Oh dear. What a shame. Never mind.” He outlived his usefulness.

It will be “saved” so that one of his billionaire followers can buy it.

Unless a restaurant is feeding the poor for free, their mission is obvious and I don’t need to know it.

And I’ve yet to see the website affected by me doing this.

I have to use two factor ID to log into work and I do understand the security concerns that prompt its use. That said, for general websites I look for the privacy policy and then turn off every cookie I can, particularly anything linked to “improving my user experience” and marketing.

Those earlier Australian PMs didn’t face a sizeable cross-bench of community based independents. It is a recipe for minority government.

It’s too bad that the citations or sources it produces often don’t exist or aren’t authority for the proposition they are cited for. That simply replaces one form of busywork with another.
December 26, 2024 at 8:16 PM
That’s a near certainty. It will specialise in stating the bleeding obvious, supported by fake references.

I love owls. Some are cute and cuddly and then there are our local Powerful Owls. I’d get behind an owl starter pack.
