First post about this here: I’ve spent the past 7 years traveling to DC to advocate for families impacted by Alzheimer’s. 💜
It’s personal. It’s powerful. And I’m not stopping until we #ENDALZ.

My photo of a hummingbird!

“Hummingbirds weigh no more than a penny, yet travel thousands of miles every year across perilous terrain. Their journey shows that you can do just about anything if your heart is in it and you have the courage.” - unknown

Black-and-white warbler. Hard to photograph as they move around quickly. Also hard to spot as they like to hang out at the top of trees. #springbirder #warblers

Two photos I took last week - great blue heron and belted kingfisher at the pond waiting for their next catch.🐟

An early arriving neotropical palm warbler. Taken with my new camera which I’m loving! 📷

Here’s six amazing birds I photographed in 2024! I might not have a fancy camera but still proud of these shots with my compact Canon. Cedar waxwing, common yellowthroat, belted kingfisher, northern flicker, tree swallow and yellow warbler.

Looking forward to more birding in 2025!

My pic of a purple martin.

They historically nested in abandoned woodpecker holes in dead trees. Now, east of the Rocky Mountains, they rely completely on artificial nest sites — “gourds” and multi-nest houses elevated on poles. They can thrive when the nests are checked and tended regularly.

I live in an area that has a big black bear population. I took this photo of one that showed up in my yard this past spring. Between this past spring and summer, I think I had 6 sightings. Haven’t seen any this fall. 🐻

Last time I spotted a northern flicker, this past summer! I’ve always been fascinated by their appearance, such a unique looking woodpecker.

In December of 2022, I took a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska with the goal of seeing the northern lights for the first time. And I saw them the first night I was there. Unbeknownst to me at the time, we’d be able to see them as far south as CT in 2024. Can’t wait for 2025!
