My attempt at capturing Chunk with my limited skills 😀. I’m growing my graphic skills slowly. Represented in a 2D version is a very fat bear called Chunk. His broken jaw with jaunty tooth, scar across his snout, and back fat rolls make him recognizable.

🌟Plant pathogens attacking harmful invasive aquatic plants

Nymphoides peltata occupies ~17 football ⚽ fields of area in Lake Mälaren & is in other spots too. We show that Septoria villarsiae & friends are associated with this host in 🇸🇪.

I got to talk fungal conservation with Elisabet Ottosson and @funganaught.bsky.social today! These inspirational folks are doing great work in Sweden and England to protect fungi. I have a lot to learn and am grateful for every opportunity.

Text about the evolution of different groups of aquatic fungi and fungi-like organisms from 1929 (thus much of the text is incorrect in light of later advances); however, highlighted is the text "the Laboulbeniales, which mycologically are a separate cosmos by themselves..." -- which I think will still be appreciated by many today.

I am currently working with Jennifer Anderson here in SLU, alongside collaborators from various countries in Europe and North America, on the EU-funded Biodiversa+ project “FUNACTION”. We are conducting ground surveys to assess the current diversity, abundance, and functional diversity of aquatic fungi. And to identify environmental factors that may influence aquatic fungi both within and outside of the current designated protected areas. Our goal is to develop a comprehensive knowledge base that will serve to inform and guide stakeholders about the significance of aquatic fungi.
