Because they’ve centralised the news teams. BBC World Service is now terrible too because of this, broadcasting to the world an interview of the winner of Traitors a show only viewable in the UK

Is his only knowledge of Ireland based on the quiet man ?

For sure 👍

😀 more Brits hate the monarchy than seems to come across to our friends across the globe
October 31, 2025 at 4:57 PM
I though chillies had one
October 31, 2025 at 3:01 PM
And that doesn’t change fact many had to make a quick decision to move to a country to lock in those benefits and then feel trapped in a way they wouldn’t have had Brexit not happened during pandemic or if the uk hadn’t been in the EU so they wouldn’t have already been planning accordingly
October 25, 2025 at 8:05 AM
Needs to be a fundamental shift too. Needs to be a partnership rather than a transaction ship
October 25, 2025 at 7:59 AM
It still upended plans.
October 25, 2025 at 7:55 AM
There is a difference between knowing and being able to. Many of us when we finally were able to didn’t know a pandemic would strike in the year we’re were going to use to explore which country to emigrate to nor that Brexit would still happen during that pandemic

It did change things

Many Brits to get WA status realised they had to make that sudden move and just hoped it would work out

So I do think it feels different
October 25, 2025 at 6:06 AM
Well we kind of are in this moment because if you move you lose the WA rights, some of which mean things such as degrees are auto recognised. So it’s a BIG BIG move which cannot be as easily reversed like before

Rest of world were already in that situation so probably would have planned it but
October 25, 2025 at 6:06 AM
I mean I’m an Irish citizen and even that didn’t save me
October 25, 2025 at 6:03 AM
100% just saying to the Brits at home who act like those who had to choose somewhere in a hurry have it easy and it’s only the Brits in the uk with issues

It is what it is
October 25, 2025 at 6:02 AM
For sure 😀 just know many who are unhappy bc they had to move somewhere, Covid forced hand for where it could be and realised
It wasn’t a good fit but can’t exactly move either

They understand why but it’s no less depressing. And frustrations when Brits at home see them as having escaped effects
October 25, 2025 at 6:01 AM
The fact is prime ministers and their governments regularly ignored the courts on rulings regarding air pollution

Because they had techniques for doing so
October 24, 2025 at 12:56 AM
You can try to do a VONC but normally due to the voting system it has to come from their own party who won’t want to trigger it lest they lose power

Only option is the courts and so far government has respected rulings in matters of constitution if only because they haven’t found a loophole for it
October 24, 2025 at 12:56 AM
But the prime minister can both stuff it with whoever they choose since he doesn’t have to listen to the committee who reviews their appointees. But also you can spam the lords as there is a convention that they don’t block a piece of legislation they’ve had to read two times in the same session
October 24, 2025 at 12:56 AM
The system is bunkers. The monarch can dissolve parliament but won’t because they aren’t elected and worry about protests. So they follow advice given to them by a council some of which whose members are picked by the same prime minister they want to scrutinise. The lords can also scrutinise

You tell your friend how a roof would have kept you dry

They respond “but in America they have roofs and did you see how many of their houses get burnt down, I don’t want to live in America”

You try to explain about other countries which have roofs but it’s no use
October 24, 2025 at 12:40 AM
Many of were locked into what ever country we chose. Even if it didn’t work out, so it’s not like we are unscathed
October 24, 2025 at 12:35 AM
I think hope is fundamental for any change.

Even if you are an anarchist, anarchy is the “hope” that removing all organised structures would lead to a better world.

Therefore he is more positive than he thinks

October 17, 2025 at 9:51 AM
There has to be a broader cultural shift tbh

One that I think needs a couple of generations to die out or something catastrophic to happen to the uk
