The transport sector is the main reason why I've been sceptical about green growth, but perhaps the rising economies in the south can work with it better than we have.

The world’s 280 million electric bikes and mopeds are cutting demand for oil far more than electric cars
Electric vehicles get all the press – but it’s the smaller unsung two wheelers cutting oil demand the most.

@davidallengreen.bsky.social with America there is something most commentators miss.

For decades they’ve wondered why institutions in many European nations struggled with poor productivity and complicated bureaucracy

We were told that American culture is more fundamentally more efficient

@sturdyalex.bsky.social why don’t those workers stand their ground ? Seems resigning and then letting a toddler take over their job role isn’t much better than having done what DOGE asked of them.

Brexit means Welsh government will now have to pay £40 million pounds a year for 30 years

Just for a tiny section of this road, because the EU money used to fund the other sections was no longer available since Brexit

£2 billion in total
A465: Work on Heads of the Valleys road to end after 23 years
It has taken 23 years and cost almost £2bn, but the major road will be finished later in 2025.

@vivamjm.bsky.social comms around Brexit changes are a mess.

Eu/Uk/Irish Gov and Ferry companies websites fail to say you need to do tapeworm when entering Ire from UK

We had people in customs who had paid UK vet to do the needed medicine who’s vet didn’t even know about the tapeworm

Shocking

@vivamjm.bsky.social visited the U.K. last month. Latest Brexit denial is Premier Inn blaming lack of orange juice on “global shortages” when reality is their unwillingness to pay. Same as when you hear “unexpectedly high call volume”

@sturdyalex.bsky.social could this be the latest sign of a shift in policy by Labour. Lived in Portugal for 5 years, most I ever saw U.K. government drum trade was at tech events or film festivals (your guess as good as mine)

This year they decided to promote lamb at the supermarkets

Something I haven’t seen a lot of discussion about on blue sky is how does it prevent impersonation amongst high profile people. It looks like they have already reserved the usernames of people such as the president of Ukraine, smart!
