General nerdery. Finished a PhD in music theory just in time to become an engineer for a cloud computing company (it’s a weird life). Gay as in “happy,” but also just 🏳️‍🌈.

Incredible achievement that the one price that the Trump administration has brought down notably is "cocaine."
The Trump-Miller administration's single-minded focus on migration is starting to impact the availability of drugs in the US, according to this detail from a very good investigation @wsj.com published today.

The constitution requires us to count everyone in the country, even people bigots don't like. Not that that matters anymore.

About X-Men ‘97 : was Magneto always this fabulous?! Ian McKellen could’ve rocked this look.

I went to my first gay club over the weekend. And it was wonderful! Sure, I was overwhelmed a bit by the noise, the crowd, the go-go boys. But I was also at home. I felt/feel like I’d taken another step toward finding a place among my people.

Them: “I just had to make the joke. Low-hanging fruit.”

Me: “I’ve been called worse.”

Them: 😐

The hardest part about my career change has been finding meaning. I wrapped so much of my sense of self and purpose in that path. Some days a sense of meaning and direction are out of reach, especially when the new path doesn’t seem to make sense.

I still miss the OS-independent battery status LEDs on the sides of MacBooks. 💻

Basil of Baker Street surely had a bad breakup with Prof. Ratigan at some point for them to have such obsessive and passionate animosity.

I went to a gay bar over the weekend with a friend and was called “sexy” by another man for the first time. Friends, I am still riding the high of that moment.

I recently started watching Game of Thrones: the show in which all notable characters are invincible during battle but only half of them survive any given meal or party.

I just finished “Summer Sons” by @leemandelo.bsky.social. I love it. I was especially taken with how the protagonist experiences most clearly the things that interest him, communicating his car obsession and hinting at his sexuality before he’d acknowledged it.

My brain has a two-part organizational schema for vocab:
- What’s the first letter?
- What does it sound like?

So I’m just playing charades with myself when I try to recall a word.

I’ve had a few old friends reconnect with me since I came out publicly. I’m super excited to be getting lunch with one of those friends this weekend. Despite all evidence to the contrary, I feared his rejection. Instead, I think this might be the start of a new phase of our friendship.

Imagine if humans talked like puppets usually do. The jaw stays mostly still or moves as much as the rest of the head. Kermit must be so disoriented all the time.

Some of my family feel really comfortable moving armchairs, changing the television angle, unplugging lamps, shifting side tables, and creating other chaos when they come to visit. It disturbs my calm, but I feel like I’m the problem here so I say nothing.

An old friend reached out wanting to catch up after I came out. I scheduled 3 times. He stopped texting leading up to each and started texting again a few days after.

He reached out again, apologizing, and suggested we hang out. I’m not sure whether I’m naive for considering another attempt.
