Following the survey there is an option for you to leave your name and email for a 30-60 minute interview where I will seek to explore any questions arising from your questionnaire response, the emotional labour of teaching animal geographies, and anything else you think is important.

There are no geographical requirements of your teaching having to have been in the UK.

I take animal Geographies as broadly conceived rather than any narrow conception. (E.g., your teaching ould be on animals and society or specifically on conservation).

The survey can be undertaken by anyone at any career stage (e.g., Teaching fellows, lectures, profs, retired colleagues), with the caveat that you are teaching, or have taught, animal geographies in HE (e.g., one class, a module, or part of a wider course).

◾ The study provides critical insights for students, researchers, and policymakers to understand and reform human‐animal relations worldwide, advocating for ethical, evidence‐based policies.

◾ The study examines three legislative approaches ‐ controlling out‐of‐place animals, regulating animal bodies, and protecting against harm ‐ revealing their spatial and political dimensions.

◾ We explore how evolving societal values reshape legal frameworks, emphasising dogs’ emotional and social significance in human‐dog relations.

◾ In it we employ a legal animal geographies lens to redefine dogs as more‐than‐property, focusing on the UK’s legislative shift from the Theft Act 1968 to the Pet Abduction Act 2024, recognising their sentience.
