Many have asked me if there's a material that can fully replace plastic. Now I throw that question to you: Can the world entirely shift away from plastic?

As we negotiate for a global #plasticstreaty, which could go through many derailments by oil producing countries and petrochemical industries, we must continue pushing for local or even regional mechanisms to address the problem of plastic.

From the beginning, plastic was not designed to be recycled once it became waste. The promotion of recycling has mainly been a response to increased protests against pollution, mostly championed by petrochemical industries who want nothing to do with cutting down on production.

Marginalized communities from Northern Kenya also took part in yesterday's climate protest in Nairobi. They said enough is enough, it's time they are heard!
