How exciting it must’ve been for young Jimmy when his idol Charles Lindbergh began the first solo transatlantic flight from NYC to Paris on his 19th birthday, May 20, 1927. Jimmy later portrayed Lindbergh in the Billy Wilder-directed biopic The Spirit of St. Louis (1957).
