The Case Against Judicial Review - The American Prospect
If Democrats don’t bring the Supreme Court to heel, Americans will live under judicial despotism for the foreseeable future.

If it was a post all about Puerto Rico, I would have. Having three words to reference Puerto Rico in a checklist of five items with a completely different theme didn’t allow for it. But rest easy. Your credentials in language policing are duly burnished.

I was too cryptic trying to meet the word limit. I’m not saying anyone should force Puerto Rico to be a state. I’m saying that, if Puerto Ricans choose to be a state, Democrats should make that happen at the federal level. If Puerto Ricans choose some other status, then that should govern.

#DefundTheSupremeCourt next time the Dems have a trifecta.

My checklist for whether a Dem candidate for Congress or Senate is up for the fight is similar:
1) Supreme Court reform
2) Abolish the filibuster
3) Statehood for D.C. & Puerto Rico (to ameliorate the Senate)
4) Mandatory Independent Redistricting Commissions in every state for Congressional maps.

the ultimate example of the problem here was when lefties yelled at Biden that SCOTUS was going to ruin his administration, and he appointed a blue ribbon panel who said "do nothing," and Biden went "well hands tied," and then SCOTUS repealed half his achievements and crowned Trump a king

We will have to come up with a new constitutional framework to deal with the reality of the fact that the United States government was taken over by a criminal enterprise.

And then eliminates the possibility of punishment via making up the doctrine of presidential immunity out of thin air. Grrr.
