The lake and the surrounding cultural landscape have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. It is known for its unique flora and fauna, with over 200 endemic species found nowhere else in the world. The town of Ohrid on the North Macedonian shore is one of the oldest human settlements in Europe. The picture shows a jetty on the lake shore with a sunset in the background.
