Area 52 03 (Image - April 01)
Writer: Brian Haberlin
Artist: Clayton Henry
I said this in an earlier post where this title came up, Area 52 was an early title I got my hands on when getting into indie comics and I loved it. A fun mash-up of The Thing, Alien. and other 80s sci-fi concepts.

Pluto Vol. 08 (Viz Media - Mar 10)
Creator: Naoki Urasawa
I'm not going to sugarcoat this, Pluto is of the greatest comics I've ever read in my life. My short and sweet description is 'Issac Asimov meets Watchmen'. It received an anime adaption recently, it's almost as good as the manga itself

Meridian 16 (Crossgen - Oct 2001)
Writer: Barbara Kesel
Artists: Steve McNiven/Tom Simmons
Comic writing 101: Every Fantasy or Sci-Fi action/adventure comic should transition to a pirate adventure for its 3rd story arc in order for your lead to learn some hard lessons. Those are just the rules

Eb'nn 05 (Now Comics - Nov 86)
Writer: Michael Dimpsey
Artist: Chris Ecker/Brian Thomas
Another of one of the many anthro-comics spawned in the wake of TMNT-mania. This one is about a Crow bounty hunter and is actually really cool. Apparently its rights are a mess, but I'd read a come back.

Brath 13 (Crossgen - May 2004)
Writer: Chuck Dixon
Artist: Andrea Di Vito/Andrea Di Vito
Very close to the end now, the Negation War preview banner was promoting the comic that was set to climax the building multi-year Crossgen metaplot. The company would be shuttered in June, story unfinished

All New Collectors' Edition C-58 Facsimile Edition (DC - May 25)
Writer: Gerry Conway
Artists: Rich Buckler/Dick Giordano
Probably the 'newest' comic I'll share in this thread this year. I'm actually kind of impressed with these treasury Facsimiles, because they are exactly the correct size.

Ironclad Machine Mikazuki (6 episode series)
and
the Garo franchise (multiple series, films, and specials)
Amemiya is basically the king of this kind of thing.

Fantastic Four 404 (Marvel - Aug 95)
Writer: Tom DeFalco
Artist: Paul Ryan/Danny Bulanadi
Even as a big DeFalco/Ryan FF fan, I have to acknowledge that post 400 feels a bit like an overt wind down. This arc would repair Ben's face scars, and a few issues later Reed would be back.

Black Jack Vol. 01 (Vertical - Sept 08)
Creator: Osamu Tezuka
If all you know of Tezuka is Astro Boy, I implore you to check out his other works. Black Jack, the story of an illegal doctor who does impossible surgeries for the right price is probably one of the weirdest comics of all time.

Zot! 04 (Eclipse - Oct 84)
Creator: Scott McCloud
Unfortunately I still don't have much to say personally about Zot!, other then that collecting a near full run out of bins has been pretty fun. I think I'm only missing issue 2.

OMAC 04 (DC - Dec 91)
Creator: John Byrne
Byrne takes a crack at the Watchman-esque 'Mature Readers' prestige format that was so popular at the time. In this case reinterpreting Jack Kirby's OMAC for the modern times. I admit I've only flipped through issue 1, it's very Byrnes looking.
