Hosting a lavish, Great Gatsby themed party at Mar a Lago the same day he's cutting off food aid to 40 million needy citizens is definitely not "making America great again." Normal people need to get past red vs. blue and take the country back from these spoiled billionaires.

New (to me) paddleboard. A mistral equinox 14'x24.6". Good bit of nose rocker, pin tail, and recessed deck with drain holes. Should be great for downwind and decent in flatwater.

This rainbow had faint extra stripes below purple. Not sure what the optical physics explanation is for those.

FGCU campus alligator. I like the abstract quality of the ripples on the water.

Very green looking oysters from a low salinity part of the Caloosahatchee. Ideas on the nature of the green color? It's more of a patina than a slime.

The big, orange "missing" data areas in the NSIDC's sea ice analysis maps are new since the defense department under Trump/Hegseth decided to stop sharing navy satellite data with weather and climate scientists. This has also weakened our ability to forecast hurricanes. www.npr.org/2025/06/28/n...

Sneaked past some scary wildfires to get to the FL keys Wednesday. Reminder of how idiotic it was for DOGE to cut everglades national park staff who normally do fire control.

Eroding shorelines are sometimes stabilized with rock "rip-rap." Here in FL people usually poison any plants that try to grow on the rip-rap, but that is counterproductive. Its better for the slope and the environment to let plants grow in the riprap. watersheds.ca/wp-content/u...
