If I were in Congress, I’d introduce the “Charlie Kirk Gun Safety Act”: universal background checks, safe storage regs, & sweeping gun safety measures that don’t infringe on the 2nd Amendment. But who cares about amendments now? Just look at Trump gutting the 1st & 14th…

Conservatives love to say it’s not guns, it’s “mental health.” They’re half-right: it’s both. But here’s the thing—radicalized right-wingers get weapons of war because capitalism makes them available. Until the GOP backs healthcare & mental health reform, I don’t want to hear it. IT’S THE GUNS.

So, why should you care? Political violence is never okay. Neither is gun violence. But this is a problem for Republicans to solve. The alleged shooter, Tyler Robinson, grew up in a conservative home w/ access to weapons of war. Like most mass shooters in 20 yrs: white men.

He wouldn’t have cried over his own death or demanded reform. He once said:

“It’s worth some gun deaths every year so we can have the 2nd Amendment.”

Closing thought: Kirk was a man who wouldn’t have lost sleep if I was shot in school or stoned in a hate crime. He might’ve celebrated it.

But if it’s not Fox or the Post, they cry “fake news.” Why trust facts when fiction works?

So, I made a 4-min Reel showing Kirk’s awful takes from the last 5 yrs. Hopefully some realize he’s not worth mourning. At least maybe it’ll shut up trolls in my comments going: “SoUrCe? hE dIdNt SaY tHaT!”

YES, HE DID.

That’s why I’m proud to be a Democrat: the party of empathy & love. Unlike Republicans. Unlike Kirk, who once said:

“I can’t stand empathy… I think it’s a made up new age term that does harm.”

Humans are selfish. I am too. In an emergency, I’d focus on myself first.

Voting is no different—it takes real empathy to vote beyond your own issues.

That’s why I’ve unfollowed so many after seeing “live like Charlie” posts on their stories.

And I’m glad I’m not the only one confused. As a Queer, Latino & child of an Immigrant, Kirk’s hateful rhetoric hit me daily.

But for many classmates in East Granby, my small hometown of 5k, it didn’t. After all, they’re cis-het white middle class folks.

If Democrats are serious about winning the House, they need to take races like this seriously. Vincent Dixie can win—and flipping TN-07 could be the upset no one saw coming. (7/7)
