Really good, really infuriating story, here. As plentiful and disgusting as the villains are—sadistic/cynical politicians big and small; orc-y cops carrying their odious work out—the bit I kept coming back to is how much shit good people have to put up with. www.washingtonpost.com/nation/inter...
Her trans daughter made the volleyball team. Then an armed officer showed up.
Half the country has banned trans girls from competing in girls sports. Jessica Norton didn’t suspect she’d be punished under one of the bans.

Published SF/F is mainstream now and has been for decades. It's impossible to read it all because the audience is now wide enough that it can't possibly be satisfied with an output that a single person, even a nerd, could read in a year. That's a good thing.

I cannot wait to be rid of him because he's corrupt and seems to dislike everything that I love about living here. But I can only tip my cap to what a diamond mind this man has. If you asked him his favorite New York baseball moment he'd bring up Cory Lidle's plane crash. He's one of one.

The idea that you should challenge yourself with bad art or the idiotic opinions of liars/bigots is one of the classic Dumb Nerd concepts. Personally I think the threshold for holding someone accountable for threats & incitement should be on a sliding scale where the more power and influence you have, the lower the threshold. Even lower if your fan base skews hateful & armed.

It’s maddening watching the sliding scale go the wrong way.
I really feel like the Secret Service and FBI should go have a little chat with him about that
