You say hundreds of thousands of dollars like that’s a big deal to people with 10’s of millions.

Yes

The libertarian wing of the r party has a plan. You pay for services directly and you get insurance only for catastrophes. Tax advantaged savings. It’s not new. It’s very appealing to healthy people who they want to siphon off.

Also, how is it possibly negligence on the part of the soda salesperson to sell you a soda you wanted to drink. (For those who can’t follow this discussion for cultural/linguistic reasons—we are talking about pop)

Can other states help? MA, VT, NH, NY, CT must have some expertise. Shouldn’t be this way but let’s show them how govt works and how human beings cooperate.

E.g see (a) the US Constitution and (b) the laws of the United States.

No, Tuberville.
November 10, 2025 at 4:43 PM
Almost all of them can afford to self-insure (eg pay out of pocket).
November 10, 2025 at 4:41 PM
As a doctor (OB-GYN, I think) he has malpractice insurance. As a person living in America he has auto insurance, life insurance, and home insurance.

Hey 74-year old man with absolutely no worries about economic security in retirement, your career is over. Meh
November 10, 2025 at 1:59 PM
Well, no I think it is just renting out a lot of apartments that are in shit condition (hence "slum"). Landlord get rich but uses none of that to improve the housing quality. An example is Fred Trump Apartments.

If the landlord defaults, he no longer owns the property nor the stream of rents.

It's dramatically wrong.
1. The government "shuts down" because there is no longer authorization from Congress to spend money. The budget/CR is that authorization.
2. Everyone is still paying taxes, meaning money is coming into the Treasury as usual. It just can't be spent.
3. The govt can borrow!!!
November 8, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Isn't all slumlordism at scale, otherwise it's just your asshole landlord. Also, isn't the slumlord mo to simply not address quality issues and still charge the same or higher rents. These guys are defaulting or keeping units empty?
November 8, 2025 at 3:17 PM
It would have been nice for them to explain that part. Or maybe they don't know so they called it "strange" instead of sinister. Someobody who understands real estate and financial buggery care to help out?
November 8, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Yeah, for some reason you think I was excusing ATT, all I am saying is that Facebook controls the content of their fraud, not just the conveyance. I agree they both are intentionally "looking the other way" because they make money off fraudsters she as legit businesses.
November 7, 2025 at 10:08 PM
ATT knew calls were coming from numbers associated with fraud, but they were not listening to the actual calls. Not saying they are innocent, just they have nowhere near the control over the actual content/mechanism of the fraud/scam that Facebook has.
November 7, 2025 at 8:52 PM
In ATT’s case how well could they monitor content? In Facebooks case there is no question they can. After all this investment in AI they should be able to suss out every scam. It should be a legal requirement.
