Just been told by someone in Malta that the pollution from the massive cruise ships is worth it for the revenue they bring - and there you have it in microcosm.

Indeed! My father was in the RAF in N Africa for all of WW2. You can imagine his reaction when my uncle, reserved occupation farmer and Home Guard member in WW2, later said “what this country needs is another war.”

Absolutely. My father, 18 at start of WW2, said half his primary class died in that war. Two of his uncles died in WW1. Unfortunately the generation with that experience and insight is almost gone.

Well I have done most because I am of a certain age whereas my parents would have done fewer. Ergo they were less weird than me. Yeah that works.
