I listen to the Final Fantasy VII Machinabridged soundtrack almost exclusively while writing. If a scene demands it, I will loop "Those Chosen by the Planet" until the tone hits just right.

Never underestimate a flat character arc! Some of my all-time favorites fall into this category, but it doesn't make them any less compelling, and it also doesn't mean they can't grow.

It's just a different kind of journey a character undergoes.

Our recent insistence on labeling everything as "content" has hampered our ability to engage and connect with media, not just high-budget productions but also fan projects on websites such as Tumblr. It's such a disposable way to look at the movies we watch, the books we read, or the games we play.
