- We need cheaper printed black and white comics for the love of god
- Comics for adults could do crazy numbers if they actually had support, pubs are leaving money on the table
- Prose authors shouldn't be hired to write comics based on prose chops alone
- Cartoonists should be paid 700x more

I've heard countless folks say "I can't even draw a stick figure" and let me tell you, that squiggly hand-drawn line will always have more heart and expression than any AI art could ever have.

I have no idea if the comic I'm making is any good, but it exists. And that's way better than just thinking about it and wishing it were real.

as a neurodivergent & also weird kid school was hell for me, though these days I struggle to remember the names of all the teachers who bullied me. But the three that treated me like a person have never left me. Now more than ever, I hope you all try your best to stay unsquishable!

Remember that dialogue takes up physical space in comics. If you want characters to rant, spread that out across panels. But generally avoid it.
Hold off using caption boxes when starting out. Prose writers often use them to disengage with visuals and over rely on narration.

My main advice I give to ppl who want to write comics:
1: Study screenwriting and filmmaking. Learn camera language, the 180 degree rule, when to use types of shots for diff emotional beats, etc
2: Study storyboarding, especially how to compose & stage a scene.
3: Read so. many. comics.

I'm always going to advocate for making the art that makes you happy, not what makes everyone else happy... but with that said it also is really exciting cooking up something you know lots of others will enjoy as well
