I swear to God I was in a grad class full of people who were simultaneously getting a Bachelors and Masters in accounting in 2015 and they didn't know why this Co. Stock crashed in 2008.

THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN 2008. I WAS LIKE TWO YEARS OLDER THAN THEM. JESUS. YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS.

Ugh I know a 25 year old who says things like an art degree is worthless. And I'm like dude. No. We need people to study art. We should all study art and history because without understanding culture your finance degree doesn't work.

I haven't mentioned it yet but I'm excited about "Big and Bright," the new LGBTQIA+ section at @thebarbedwire.com ... I'm not aware of other statewide pubs devoting this much space to queer and trans life. Thanks to @oliviamesser.bsky.social and the rest of the team who are making this happen.

There are 1.8 million of us, and we’re not going anywhere.

Spend a penny!

Most *public* toilets when they were first built were pay to use. (they were for men only and cost per trip so if you were a woman and poor you were left out).

The US didn't keep on with paid toilets so it just became and expectation for businesses to have available facilities.

But keep speaking up. We all have to keep on the people responsible so they know that it's important.

So many people are disabled or are close to disability and I think as a culture were just more *aware* of accessibility, esp physical disabilities.

We have gaping holes to fill in tho.

For all the ADA's failure in enforcement, it still is law and a lot of countries have weaker regulations or no regs at all.

I'm an accessibility hawk when I'm out in the world and I have 1000 complaints but I'm glad that generally, Americans now expect accessibility! We've made a lot of progress!

Compared to what they talk about in Europe? America is doing way better imo.

I see people in Europe applauding some convoluted wheelchair lift or door configuration or some back delivery entrance requires someone else to operate it and that's being called accessible.

USA still has a long way tho

Free public toilets kinda include actually private toilets in restaurants you're allowed to use without paying. I think they misinterpreted easy access for the public vs actually public as they are paid for by municipal government.

Still not as accessible to non-customers!! It's a problem!
