Two disparate thoughts:

First, one area Anil is cautioning against is using AI in place of thought. This will not only lead to deleterious outcomes with your projects, it will play into a narrative that you are merely an expensive factory worker who can be replaced by a much cheaper machine.
I sat for a long while with my complicated feelings about "vibe coding". It is _genuinely_ empowering for many — opening a door to creating with code that otherwise would never exist. Also? It enables a dangerous dependency that could be a path to serfdom for coders. www.anildash.com/2025/12/02/v...

I guess my question is, is this "whoops, we gave you the originals and not the ones with VFX" or "oh crap, quick! fix the VFX"
UPDATE: This actually wasn't HBO Max's fault.

Source tells me incorrect files were delivered to HBO Max. Lionsgate is working on getting them the right files now and those corrected files will be posted as soon as possible.

The Mad Men Rollout on HBO Max Might Make Fans Vomit
Thanks to a screwup in the file transfers, the show’s 4K release is riddled with errors.

My brain keeps coming back to this and it ties to a point I've made before, that nerds who were ostracized in school either deeply empathize with marginalized groups or seek out groups where they can ostracize others. It's why white cis nerds in particular are susceptible to right wing ideology.
This is actually quite brilliant, up to and including the final sentence 🔥

While I am not sure about the exact $140k figure, I agree with Michael's core argument and have long made similar arguments. Specifically that many “middle class” households are actually working class, in that they cannot afford leisure or unexpected costs without taking on debt.

Given all the ads for sports betting during football games these days, one for NFL-themed slot machines shouldn't be all that surprising. It's doesn't make it any less gross though.

Just thinking about how there would be non-stop stream headlines about federal spending if a Democratic administration deployed social workers to help communities at the scale Trump has deployed ICE and other agencies to destroy them.

So you should really watch this. Just 2 minutes. But a window into the truly radical nature of the people Trump is nominating.

When pressed today, the nominee to be Ambassador to South Africa refuses to oppose reinstituting laws to prevent black people from voting in America.

I've hypothesized that post WWII America pivoted so hard toward fearing communism that we all got a huge dose of anti-communism propaganda and zero anti-fascist propaganda. That said, imagine if the tattoo in these reports was a hammer and sickle.
if you're reaction to this is not "what the fuck is wrong with the military" instead of "oh it can't be that bad", you should sit with the idea longer.

I once made the horrible revelation that the U.S. is uniquely unequipped when technology makes abundance possible without labor because Americans equate human value to the ability to work and make money. If the Vulcans came with a replicator tomorrow, our society would collapse.
Will the good news ever stop? Collapsing under the weight of so much good news! I'm looking forward to the dogs with bees in their mouths (and when they bark they shoot bees at you)!
