Its so demeaning to the life of work they put into their art, and it must suck to have to argue that your work is in fact your own.

I think machine translation does have a place in accessibility but shouldn't overrule human contributions that can better distinguish nuance and intent (i.e. assist vs. replace). Especially if a good community of contributors already exists!
Mozilla deployed an AI bot that overwrote 20 years of volunteer Japanese translations, without consultation. JP community leader resigned, and the offer from Mozilla is to "hop on a quick call to understand why they're struggling". FFS.

I think machine translation does have a place in accessibility but shouldn't overrule human contributions that can better distinguish nuance and intent (i.e. assist vs. replace). Especially if a good community of contributors already exists!

there was a 9-min disruption to constellation, ufos-api, and spacedust this morning due to a datacentre (fig's house) power flicker.
by 8:30am EDT, auto-recovery worked for all services, which fully recovered on their own.
