I had the best possible hand going first game 2 after spending 3 years trying to get rid of this stupid card in g1, only to get annihilated by evenly matched first action, then spend the entire rest of the game struggling for advantage

This guy messed with my mind, I hadn’t clocked that this deck could play fallen & virtuous
Anyway big wins all around, the deck is performing as intended

R3 2-1 W 🎲L Paul on Yummy Fiendsmith
Felt like my play was really strong here and I don’t feel bad for knocking Paul out since he was gonna drop and play Genesys anyway

R2 0-2 L 🎲L Yummy, wow that felt bad, it was literally over in a matter of minutes. Couldn’t break the board game 1, ran into a scenario where my normal plays lose to droll and got otk’d crazy fast game 2. Feels bad but I don’t think I could have done better

R1 1-2 L 🎲L Pure Mitsurugi, SUPER close game, felt great about my play especially into not one, but TWO dimension shifters, lost cuz I didn’t ash Pre-Prep game 3

The last thing that I realized that for once, my first instinct for a conversation coming out of a tournament wasn’t to complain about the format. I had fun today, good enjoyable games all around, and really reminded me why I enjoy this game so much.

Of deck building, namely “needs to be 40 cards” and “handtraps good”, things I thought I’d learned to question. Truthfully it almost makes me wish there was a “dominus” card or something similar that can work with chaos type decks.

Okay bsky shit itself immediately after i posted this so lemme just give some final thoughts:
I’m super excited for next format, I think I learned a lot about this deck and how it should be built. A lot of my failures today were due to choices I made based on not-so-absolute Absolute Truths-

I think it’s definitely worth it to keep some room in my side deck for like…”break glass in case of unbeatable combo deck” cards, especially since I’m playing thrust and can afford to run singletons.
