Is this REAL?!?!

It was in the deep snow outside my work building on Thursday. It’s very unlikely that a person could have reached this place to create this. No person walked to the corner of the building where some cement is showing. The tracks are obviously real.

I wonder if a magpie tried

How PUBLIC health and The Government of Alberta have changed.

Check out this pamphlet I found in a box of teaching files (circa 2006-08) given to teachers by the “Pandemic Planning Facility Emergency Response” team at AB Educ/govt.

CLEAR and direct communication. It outlines

WHAT?!?

The V-Flex is discontinued?😳

I wear them every day at work and for exercise classes. Does anyone know how the alternative suggested fits and feels?

Do I order 10 cases?!

I LOVE NYC PUBLIC HEALTH.

I think about the ways NYC public health was leading at the forefront of other public health issues in the past, including cholera. This is quality PH messaging.

Public Health saves lives.

ps. link to the NYC public health website for more info is in the Alt text.

The heated outdoor patio at AlForno is open until the temps reach double digits below zero. A good place to enjoy lunch or coffee and snack and not get COVID. Or flu. Or measles.

Trying out my new prescription“sports glasses” to protect my eyes from cold and wind. They look weird but feel 😊 so 🤷‍♀️

For seedlings this year I used Farida Sober’s seed snail method. She has lots of tutorials on instagram. Saves so much space (more plants! haha) & they grow robust stalks & roots. I didn’t even harden off my tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos. Corn was great until the squirrels feasted on it 😂 ⬇️

Tomato 🍅 roasting.
It was a bumper crop year for tomatoes in my garden. I harvested well over 60 pounds almost all grown from seed. Haven’t bought tomatoes since late July. Sooo many in the freezer in various forms. A bit overwhelming lol. I’m a super lazy gardener. Barely fertilize. Don’t prune. 🧵

TWO pedestrians were hit by vehicles on Memorial Drive TODAY in separate incidents. 😭

I think it is already self scaling. In a few more days, I won’t own a car. Just an e-bike. The paths & roads & racks in Calgary have more e-bikes every day. Literally as I was reading this post, THIS beauty stopped beside me! They are much more 😎 than cars.

Someone please buy me an Urban Arrow. 🙏

Oh my goodness!! Alberta High School IB students have organized a free tutoring service for the core subjects 🥹✊

The solidarity they have with each other and with their teachers is beyond anything I could have imagined.

Check out their Instagram page or website. Support them if you can!

Early voted at the U of C on Thursday.

They did not mention my mask 😷 or ask me to remove it like I’ve heard has happened at other polling stations.

The SU was giving out gelato after you voted 😋. 8 degrees outside. Perfect 🍨 weather!

My classroom this morning at one minute after start time.

I wondered if I should just start teaching my own self…. 😂

Then students started trickling their weary selves in … 🥹

Happy vaxxed smile.

The Greatest Nurse in the World did not ask me about eligibility.

I commented that he had not asked.

He responded “I don’t ask. I don’t care why you need it. Everyone should get it”.

May the gods shower him with infinite blessings. Undermining the rules is good power. ✊

Here’s my Susie Kathol pottery collection SO FAR (haha I lurk on her website and socials to see when she posts something new). Many of her pieces are one of a kind.

The iridescent trilobite cup is new to me. I LOVE 💕 the stink/shield bug (pentatomidae) so much.

Check out this cool hover fly (a bee mimic) cleaning her long proboscis with her cute feet on an echinacea flower 🥹

She was working hard sucking up nectar.

Sorry for the dizzy swaying image. It was a bit windy out. I should have held the stem lol.

When Covid started I spent that first year getting rid of about half my lawn and planting drought resistant native plants and bee friendly perennials. Every year it’s more and more alive, especially diverse bumblebees species. Thousands of bees.

I don’t know if it was here or Twitter where someone recently recommended this book. It is GOOD.

Thank you to whoever that was 🙏❤️.
