I’m playing Hollow Knight for the first time and I love it quite simply because it’s full of lil guys I would die for 🥹

Hoping and praying @playbalatro.com do a Mediterranea Inferno crossover soon so I can have Claudio, Andrea and Mida as King, Queen and Jack of Hearts respectively 🥹💖

I can’t stop thinking about just how lucky we were to get Twin Peaks: The Return. Lynch pulled out all the stops to create the most incredible piece of art that was purely his uninterrupted vision.

#1 - Lorelei and the Laser Eyes

A perfect puzzler through and through. Lorelei is as challenging as it is gorgeous.

It’s like jigsaw that’s been dropped on the floor. When you find the missing piece you’ve been hunting ages for, more will fall into place with the most satisfying results.

#2 - Balatro

Like everyone this year, I’ve been thoroughly Balatro-pilled. I felt like a gambling god as I took down the biggest blinds and found new ways to advance further.

There’s nothing I love more than being called a flop by a Joker and know I’ll be playing for years to come!

#3 - Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth

There’s nothing more emotional than hearing the FF7 score swell and Rebirth makes it sound incredible! Despite Remake’s acclaim, Rebirth eclipses it in every way and makes for an utterly fantastic continuation.

I’m still yearning for a Queen’s Blood board game.

#4 - Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill 2 is a dirty game filled with bugs, rust and trauma. This all sounds bad, but it’s exactly what I was looking for from the remake of one of my favourite games.

Despite my initial trepidation, Bloober Team came through with a truly considerate and terrifying homage!

#5 - Dragon’s Dogma 2

DD2 is the game I feel sadly fell by the wayside as the year went on. There was nothing I loved more than being a Trickster and ruthlessly culling Pawns to find the best for my troupe.

Despite some archaic design choices, it feels reminiscent of an era of gaming I sorely miss

#6 - Astro Bot

Astro Bot is a delightful platformer from beginning to end.

While the nostalgia bait and Sony branding may be a little heavy-handed, it’s undoubtedly a great celebration of all things PS. I just hope they remember the response and revive some long forgotten IPs (new Killzone pls)

#7 - Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club

As a boy that loves a good mystery, I knew this would be right up my street! While Emio is certainly a slow burner, it’s almighty crescendo of an ending is where it shines!

As a revival of the cult series, it’s perfect. I can’t wait for the next.

#8 - Mouthwashing

The game that tells you it wants to hurt you from the start. Mouthwashing is a vicious game that I can’t stop thinking about after rinsing it in an afternoon.

It’s a short, visceral body horror that feels like a mid of Evangelion and Claire Denis’ High Life, and it will shock you

#9 - 1000xResist

Perhaps the most heartbreaking game I’ve played this year. Examining political turmoil, Covid and generationally trauma, its characters are beautifully complex and superbly voice acted!

Loved the way its ending system played out and can’t wait to play again.

Hekki Allmo! 🙏

#10 - Sorry We’re Closed

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a queer indie horror. Last year it was Mediterranea Inferno. This year: Sorry We’re Closed.

As you’re pursued by a prowling demon on the hunt for love, you’ll be thrown into a horrifically gorgeous world akin to classic Silent Hill.

Writing some features at the moment and, quite simply, I can’t stop thinking about The Lake House. The story, the themes, the characters. All perfect 🌀

Spent the last few days learning how to knit and now my lil scarf is coming along nicely 🥹🧣

Mediterranea Inferno

The only game I’ve bought on three different platforms, I could talk about it endlessly! A game where ‘Pink Narcissus’ meets ‘Querelle’, it beautifully and horrifyingly sums up the feeling of being a queer person in the immediate aftermath of lockdown with decadent storytelling

Go on then. Every like I’ll yap about some of my fave games
