A fascinating early Inner Sphere Omni, the Avatar! It's not quite as good as the Clan mech it's based on (but what is), but the Avatar is still quite a capable and flexible machine.

Maybe the Vindicator is more akin to the Super Tucano? Sure, it *can* operate in high intensity fights and darn sure will get pressed into service when needed, but smart commanders will look to maximize advantages and minimize weaknesses if you're going into tough fights with a small mech.

Some compare the Vindicator to the T-34, but I don't think that one works - the T-34 was an advanced 1930s design, radically simplified to maximize production, where the Vindicator is meant to be affordable in long campaigns of low intensity combat.

Some mechs are unfairly maligned. Others are fairly maligned. For the life of me I don't understand why you would pay all the money to have an UrbanMech when there are cheaper and better ways to move an AC10 or 20.

The Marauder, a mech with a nigh-perfect combination of firepower, armor, and mobility. The base -3R model may run a little hot for some people, but I expect Star League mechwarriors, especially Royal and Gunslinger, were more disciplined than in 3025.

Desert Bushwacker. It's an interesting mech - suffers from the same thing as the Shadow Hawk, where it packs a lot of varied weapons into a medium chassis and can't really carry anything highly potent. But it makes an excellent trooper mech.

Uziel painted in desert camouflage. One of my favorite mechs from back in MexhWarrior 4. Twin PPCs, solid speed, and jump jets make it an ideal mech for exploitation and pursuit.
