AND I'M NOT DOGGING HIM FOR THIS BTW! I think it's a brilliant way to fund your own projects. I have no issue with the guy who made this, moreso the casual observer who thinks this is what they want Nintendo to make and that it's even close to the same quality of a game by them

Now with this game, who cares, cuz it's not like he's ever going to be able to get this sold, and he mainly made it for fun and the fact that it's easy to turn into viral content which he can then get people to go to his patreon to buy the asset pack he made for the game and support his own projects

Another pretty core issue is the camera and the fact that there is a need for it to be controllable. One of the reasons why the Mario 3D games are timeless in their design is the fact that they're designed for you to never even once worry about the camera. You can always see what you're doing

For one, the fireball powerup in this fangame is very tiny, they made it fucking huge in the other games exactly for the reason that's evident in the gameplay videos. He keeps missing with it.

I have been continuously told that much of this is just because the game starts very slowly, and I do hope it picks up now that I'm out of the prologue, but so far a lot of the writing just feels like flavorless trope soup with little to no hints of layers or 3rd dimensionality. Hope I'm wrong.

This gamification of video games has always struck me as patently ridiculous. It's a relic of an era where developers felt the need to add carrots on sticks to make people play through their boring shitty games, and it's a travesty it's become a part of the modern gaming canon. Fuck achievements

I don't agree myself either. I also think there's a distinction between the games that people are unwilling to look at. Live A Live is a night and day difference to Octapath Traveler, and I think the DQ games look even better than Live A Live. People saying they look the same are blind.

It's the hd2d backlash. Some would rather look at uneven and badly scaled sprite work than millions of post processing effects

The newly added bosses to DQ1 HD2D actually made me fall in love with that version even more, cuz they put me on the backfoot and forced me to interact with the souped up skill system, which quickly became a combat mechanic I absolutely adored afterwards.

97. Adam's Apples (6.5/10)
A Neo-nazi who's been put in a church program tries to make a priest lose his faith. It kind of doesn't go anywhere with this despite having a nice core message about prejudice. It's heavy handed and kind of shallow, but it's got some funny moments
