Fintan O’Toole reviewing Kamala Harris’s book in the current New York Review of Books. Well ahead of the news which hopefully isn’t true that eight or ten Dem senators want to cap the party’s best week in over a year with a capitulation.

I spent my holiday evening visiting the UK, Leominster to be exact.

The newest book in the series is on sale in US on Tuesday. I am still a few behind but shall get caught up. Every time I read one of these, I can tell why so many of my clients are fans of the Rivers of London series.

This is my favorite line in the Washington Post’s Mamdani screed - that NYC will go the way of Hong Kong.

Why has Hong Kong declined as a global financial capitol?

It ain’t because of free buses, or wealth taxes.

Unintentionally LMAO

I did, however, stand upon an ancient indian burial ground (a Tesco Extra) where the Overlook was located, adjacent to the Elstree Studios where most of the Star Wars movies were filmed, all a short stroll from the long demolished MGM Borehamwood facility where 2001: A Space Odyssey was shot.

But even in the so called “home of film and television” I couldn’t find anyone to hire me for anything. Maybe if I tried on a weekday?

Fun fact from Variety - Netflix hasn’t been around all that long but has two of the handful of movies to lose in eleven Oscar categories. Marketing can get nominations, but if you’re a filmmaker and want wins you need a good movie that gets a
bona fide theatrical release

Washington Post ranks the best movie musicals of the past 25 years. Lots of quibbles, like La La Land at the bottom and superfluous West Side Story remake toward the top. But the #1 choice brings a super big smile to my face. Camp. Yes, Camp. Where did Daniel Letterle go to? Great movie

Announced today, pub date TBD, the best action fantasy of my 40 year career.

Jubilant fight scenes with great depth and world building from the epic fantasy playbook.

Patrick Fitzgerald does such a great job with this one.

The next time I ask you cut something in a manuscript be sure and say “but what about the Kubrick bio that uses the same quote twice a few pages apart”
