That huge amount of wind last week fucked up my allergies and now I’ve got a sinus infection, low grade fever etc.
I haven’t been sick all year. If this turns into bronchitis I’m gonna cough about it so angrily.

You can tell there is a schism in software because there are people who say "I will do everything in my power to avoid using XML. I will die before I touch it", and as a result all anyone has to do to make something harder to "reverse engineer" is just use XML.

I've been asked several times by people at my job "why don't you leave?" and they keep looking at me bewildered when I say "there are no jobs and I can't apply for unemployment if I'm not fired".
I am deeply unhappy and might even lose housing if I am fired, but it would be better than working there

When I worked on machine learning in industry, literally every project we were asked to work on was motivated by a middle manager not wanting to devote thought or attention to their job. They were good at convincing themselves that they were asking for something different from that, but it was that
the problem is, the reason people are "into" non-deterministic automation is they're absorbed in fantasy.
shell scripts and pipes are too real — YOU have to do the work, to think things through, not wave a magic wand — and therefore unappealing.

One day the industry will recognize the drawbacks of AI agents and nondeterministic automation, and rediscover the UNIX philosophy of chaining together small purpose built tools in a low cost and predictable way, otherwise known as shell scripts.

Small update on Ableton reading wavpack files. Ableton supports it, Max 4 Live does not and I think this is why they say they don’t support it, and why wavpack export was removed at some point 🥲
