This is going to be my face for the next four years.
Retired; reader; hand quilter (only scrap quilts so far!); house mouse.
He doesn't know it but #StephenKing is my BFF.

The Four Myths
An Audible audiobook by Robert Reisler
Read by Ed Romanoff

Well that was interesting...time travel, the apocalypse, the devil, from Egypt to the Arctic to the USA. I'm not sure what happened but maybe that was the point?

Inside the Dream Palace: The Life and Times of New York's Legendary Chelsea Hotel
by Sherill Tippins

A fascinating history of the iconic landmark, but disheartening that the more things change the more things stay the same: the rich keep getting richer, the poor keep getting poorer.

Does anyone else flip their quilt to get two-for-the-price-of-one? Sometimes I just want a toned-down look.

Christmas themed scrappy strip quilt.

Putting it together was a project that lasted from June to August, then the hand quilting part started at the beginning of October until I placed the last stitch this morning.

Ghosts in the Machine: The Downloaded Book 2
Audible original by Robert J. Sawyer
Narrated by Brendan Fraser & cast

In light of the current massive spotlight on Epstein, there was an uncomfortable storyline but I'm glad to say that the questionable part of the story was resolved nicely.

The Ministry of Time
by Kaliane Bradley

A mind-bending time travel book.

(Spoiler alert): People from the future coming into the present to grab people from the past into the present to change the future.

Got it?

Postage stamp variation: maybe it needs an additional border on the sides but it's already plenty big enough so I won't worry about it right now. This is finished top #4 in my work-in-progress basket. As a hand quilter I'm getting way ahead of myself.

Re-reading End of Watch: Bill Hodges Trilogy #3

Knew what to expect but did I shed a tear anyway? Or did dust get in my eye?

My other work-in-progress: I've sewn together countless two inch squares and am now ready to assemble them into a completed quilt top. I know what I want to do and how to do it but there's no rush; I have three tops already done, just waiting to be made into actual quilts.

King Sorrow
An Audible audiobook by Joe Hill.
Narrated by a whole cast of actors

This is a book I want to re-read as a physical (or ebook) with highlighter in hand, for all the Stephen King Easter eggs the author included.

Been hand quilting this thing for 3+ hours a day since October 3 and it's still just over a third finished. Maybe it will be done in time for Christmas; maybe not.

When you're working with teeny tiny two inch pieces of fabric it takes a long time to turn them into bigger pieces of fabric. I don't know how other quilters can say "look what I made this weekend!"

Remarkably Bright Creatures

I wasn't sure about it at first; it's rather melancholy and no one is really happy. Became invested in the story about halfway through and stayed up way past my usual bedtime for a satisfying ending.

Inserted some leftover blue and gray chrysanthemum fabrics to keep it from being too monotonous and I'm not sure how it worked but "it is what it is and I meant to do that."

Maybe it needs one more border? ...but I guess I don't have to decide today.
