The Princess Bride falls just short of perfection because of Westley's line about "penalties when a woman lies" and threat to slap Buttercup. Bill and Ted just barely miss the mark due to a passing homophobic slur. Casablanca, okay fine, but it's before my time.

But The Dude? My friends, he abides.

I already wear capybara-themed clothing by preference (selfie for proof) and your painting was an obviously necessary addition to my wardrobe

I have been learning to play the trumpet. I'm terrible at it, but it's a lot of fun!

Entirely unrelated: my 12-year-old daughter sometimes has difficulty waking up in the morning.

No one knows why Elon Musk's AI chatbot, Grok, started making Nazi posts—including direct praise for Adolf Hitler—shortly after Elon promised to update it to be less woke.

AI models are complicated. Who knows where they get their biases? A question for the ages. We'll probably never know.

There goes a Pope who—despite a few vile comments that I'd have expected from someone in his position—showed remarkable human decency and moral courage.

Good luck to the Catholic Church, I guess, as they presumably seek a leader to return to their path of unalloyed supremacy, bigotry, and evil.

The AGIAMOE (Awkward Gesture In A Moment Of Enthusiasm), a salute performed at right-wing political rallies in the USA in which the right arm is abruptly extended at an upward angle, palm down, fingers together, and elbow straight, differs from the Sieg Heil in that the media says it's not the same.

Pro tip: if you're feeling exuberant during your right-wing political rally and want to avoid throwing an accidental Sieg Heil salute, you can hold your right arm down with your left.

The difference really is whether you want the "project" to be a one-time adaptation or a multi-decade, slowly but inexorably increasing burden of managing a computer whose operating system is built to make use of you rather than the other way around...

Or have a nice normal relationship with her father like Ivanka does with Donald

I know it's a hassle to switch to a Linux desktop, but honestly the area under that one-spike hassle curve is much smaller than the area under the low-grade harassment baseline (which gently but inexorably rises) from Windows for decades on end.

When the character Carson Teva in The Mandalorian says "I served during Alderaan" (a great line, which I thoroughly enjoyed), does this mean that Princess Leia lied to Grand Moff Tarkin in the original Star Wars? Was Alderaan not, after all, a peaceful planet?

Newsweek appears to believe that "Factual and fair" journalism consists of finding the middle ground between left and right perspectives. By this logic, appropriate coverage of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union would have been to report neutrally on both sides of the gas chamber and gulag debates.

The Leopards Eating People's Faces Party has published another key plank of their platform.

LEPF Party voters expressed confidence that their own faces will not be eaten by leopards, and that their own sex lives will not be affected by the implementation of the announced policy.

This gentleman right here, and the show (Lupin) is damn good; Omar Sy is absolutely riveting in a damning indictment of racism dressed up as a heist show.

Reminds me of the Reddit meme:

Reconstruction of the Stafford Road man, an Anglo-Saxon who lived in England c. AD 550, tragically 1,400 years before the invention of the electric bass guitar.
