This John Gurche depiction of a Barosaurus facing off against an Allosaurus inspired by the AMNH. It's so grand; the scale of the Barosaurus, the dusty plain, the thunderheads in the background. And yet still so alien. There's no grasses or flowers here. They haven't evolved yet. It's so good.

Is there a piece of dinosaur artwork that perfectly encapsulates the feel of the Mesozoic to you? This Greg Paul Giraffatitan piece was a formative work for me that perfectly communicates the awe and wonder of nature as once was. There’s a beauty and magic to it that words simply can’t convey.

Sad news regarding a dinosaur artist whose work was a major influence on me and just about everyone else I know who grew up on 90s-2000s dinosaur media. Check out the thread for more examples of his work!
Got informed about some sad news. Garfield Minott, a prolific dinosaur modeller, special effects and palaeoartist, recognised for contributions to the description of dinosaur binocular vision, passed away at age of 58.

And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

I accidentally deleted what I posted here on #Nanotyrannus and can no longer remember what it said anyway. As a reviewer of the paper, was impressed with the case: more convincing than what's been argued before and substantially better documented; definitely the hypothesis we should prefer for now.

Glazing in watercolour is time-consuming. Though that's perhaps a redundant explanation, given that everything is time-consuming when I attempt it. 😮‍💨🙁😑
