like ultimately i care about this because i and my friends have had meaningful & formative experiences that just… aren’t onscreen. thats what i want. and there is still time <3

& im not a sociologist but like, have you seen the news? it’s not going well. & even if it were i just think it is such a disservice to think we are here to beg people to care instead of to make movies that have never been made before

so many modern conversations about representation fail to recognize that there’s a difference between edutainment & a movie that makes you keysmash in your friends’ dms & i just can’t do the “if we put trans people on television cis people will stop banning transition” anymore!

Someone in the Discord for my newsletter described the Academy's fervent support for Emilia Perez as "A show of support for trans people, but delivered like a cat proudly dropping a half-dead mouse on your pillow," and that's more or less it.
