I love love love armous and have worn parts of one for cosplays before. While I *was* suffering and it was extremely hot and heavy, I loved it.

Multiple people have told me that Rae is a mastiff, and I'm not opposed to the idea.
After all, they're big and smart dogs, and while they're intimidating at first, they are very gentle and loyal to those they are bonded with. They're often guard dogs.

I haven't written it yet, but Raphael's fight was very satisfying for Rae.
A fight that I've written was Rae against the githyanki instructor and all of his students. Kethk reminded Rae so much of his own mentor that it sickened him, and harvesting his soul was deeply satsifying.

Astarion is an elf, and while Rae is perceived as elf and certainly looks it, he's half-elf & half-drow.
They both embrace some parts of elven culture, but aren't too fuzzed. Rae does help Astarion reconnect with Elvish (as in the language) though, and they thus often speak it.(1/2)

Both Astarion and Rae post-game sometimes quote His Majesty with, "HISS, I say HISS," when either of them is being particularly unreasonable or irritable. It's a fun way to make them realise their prickliness.
They also sometimes introduce e/o as their "bosom-companion". I hate it.
