Back in 2016 I began to make the connection that fitness is inherently political. 8 years into helping (mostly) women divest from diet culture & use strength training to build themselves up, I believe it now more than ever. Strength is resistance & we are stronger together. Hello Bluesky friends!

They used to say nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. But did it even really feel that good? To me, it felt like insecurity and anxiety and a perpetual headache from being underfed.

Apparently Target is doing a collab with Kate Spade, perhaps in an attempt to bring some of us back? Wrong move. They underestimate my petty ability to hold a grudge forever. All this does is make me wanna sell the Kate Spade I already have and add another company to my shit list.

Normalize adding stuff to convenience foods marketed as a meal but really just a bowl of rice with a tiny bit of protein and veggies. Normalize frozen veggies being just as valid as fresh. Normalize eating according to your hunger, not the serving size. Normalize eating “dinner food” for brunch.

If you see a gym selfie of a girl with abs in a matching set & it makes you feel some kinda way about your body, I just watched her strategically pose & edit it. She’s cute but she doesn’t look like that IRL. Go train for whatever lights you up & remember the internet is smoke & mirrors.

I can no longer make it through a day of work w/out a client sharing how 🤡👨🏻‍💻💩🔥 is affecting them personally. It is not “getting political” when it’s just regular life at this point. All I know is that we can’t normalize it. Anyone finds it possible to “just stick to fitness” must not work w/humans.

Just got off the phone with insurance and I can’t stop thinking about how even with “good” healthcare coverage, a neccessary appointment for my son with an in-network provider (a basic human right) costs more than I charge for personal training (a nice to have premium service).

Sometimes people ask me how I’m doing and I have to pause before I automatically say “good”. Do you want the truth or a lie? I am doing about as good as a person can be considering the circumstances. The horrors persist. And in this moment, I am fine. How are you? Actually though.
