Luxury fashion sometimes feels like a dystopian display of the huge wealth disparity that exists. I know this, but I’m also a textile obsessed artist who appreciates beauty so I’m torn because these two looks from Valentino are so fucking cool and I want them.

In addition to appliqué tapestries and artwork, I also make appliqué patchwork that I soaked to the back of vintage and secondhand jackets. All made from repurposed fabric, of course. #secondhandclothing #repurposedclothing

Thinking about this piece while I’m under the weather today. It’s called “The Rest”. It’s large at 4 1/2 ft.² It’s meant to glorify and uplift the concept of rest, because it’s too easy to not do enough of it. #textileart #baroque #repurposedart #tapestry

I was extremely lucky to have the teachers I did because I read a lot of books that are being banned or considered “objectionable”. Those books changed me and helped me see the life from perspectives other than my own. And I dare say made me smarter. And that’s why they don’t want kids reading them.

This is one of my current favorites. Gold is my favorite color, so maybe that’s why! Made from repurposed fabric and a wee bit of paint. I use some appliqué quilt techniques in my process, too. #surrealism #textileart #artist #mixedmedia
