Can't believe I didn't think of this one earlier. I think about it a lot.

Harry Belafonte as Ralph who thinks he's the last man to survive a nuclear holocaust after escaping from a collapsed mine shaft.

There's never just one survivor in these 'last man on earth' movies though... After Ralph shows he's incredible capable on his own, some damn white woman shows up, played by Inger Stevens.

The woman turned out to be ok, but then some damn white man turns up, reminding everyone that it's still 1959 even with only three people in the world - played by Mel Ferrer.

If you've ever seen a "last man on earth" movie that came out after this one, you've probably just seen a variation on "The World, the Flesh, and the Devil" (1959) dir Ranald MacDougall. Brilliant stuff.

We're No Angels based on a French play about escaped convicts (with a heart of gold) on Devil's Island at Christmastime. With Basil Rathbone as the villainous uncle. Always nice to see Bogart in a comedy.
