Cat stencils painted in 2023 by local artist Margalo Guo. It’s visible from the flaking that we didn’t prep the dirty box properly before painting. Usually we hit boxes with some rough sandpaper first to make sure surfaces are dust free & textured - giving our paint a nice surface to adhere to.

Happy year of the snake! Which snake are you? 💗 Electrical box on Cayuga St. painted by Sophie in 2020! 🐍 Fun fact: Artists have painted about 90 boxes in Ithaca - half with permission from City Hall & half without. But people love them so for the most part they don’t give us trouble for it.
