It sure did. No Perseids tonight.

Alien sunsets are here again.

Must be from the new fire burning near Port Alberni: firesmoke.ca/forecasts/cu...

#Photos of #wildfire smoke infused sky crossing the #SalishSea from #Vancouver to #Victoria last night. The source of the smoke, the ‘Wesley Ridge’ fire on Vancouver Island, is currently burning out of control.

The number of active #wildfires burning in #BC doubled in the last 24 hours.

Eventually the other one opened up its giant wing span and flew to find its brother or sister somewhere in the trees nearby. I think they might be the pair that has been nesting by the Jericho sailing centre. 🦅

The one in the tree was captivated by a crow that wouldn’t stop getting up in its grill. Meanwhile, its sibling tried to land in the same tree, but misjudged the branch’s strength, broke it and flew away awkwardly. That’s what you get when you’re still learning how to land the plane.

Watched a couple of juvenile bald eagles this morning out at Spanish Banks. They were scrambling around kind of haphazardly, making whistling noises and full of curiosity. #Vancouver #Canada #nature #birds #lookup

The new protected bike and walking lanes on the Granville Bridge look ready to go. Any sense of when they'll be open for use @cityofvancouver.bsky.social @hubvancouverubc.bsky.social? 🚲 👣 🌇 🌎 #bike #cities #Vancouver #Canada #photos

Or Vancouver. This one is from 2022. Thankfully, we haven’t had to deal with any of that ‘weather’ yet this year.

It's not just about wheat, wood, ore and brick anymore. The new #SettlersOfCatan board game takes on the #energy transition.

Hopefully there's 2.0 in the works because this version game doesn't recognize that #cleanenergy is already cheaper than #fossilfuels in many places around the world.

“Europe’s latest #heatwave dialled up daily power demand by up to 14% as Europeans turned up their #airconditioning to stay cool.

But the ☀️ also increased the availability of #solar #energy… helping Europe’s power grids pass “the stress test” of extreme
heat.”

Big line ups to vote across #Vancouver in the city council by-election today. Annoying to wait and great seeing so many of us exercising our right to vote and sending a message. 💪 #local #democracy

And yesterday there was a plum tree blooming on its shore 🌱

Was surprised to see plum trees flowering in #Victoria in December. Then saw some in #Vancouver in early January. They’re out in #Nanaimo too, which is “losing below-zero days each winter” faster than any other city in #Canada. 🌱

That’s it. Unfortunately, the Trudeau gov’t completely failed to communicate this policy for the last 5 years. They left a vacuum filled by oppo rhetoric, misinformation and disinformation. It’s great that they figured it out now but so much has been lost in terms of public support of the policy.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen brooding and undulating clouds like this before. They’re called ‘aspirants’. Are we sure that the US election didn’t open a portal to hell?
