I am watching the Clone Wars animated series for the 1st time with my son and the production design definitely supports the idea that “the Republic is the technological foundation of the Empire”
re: this thread, i've always thought that the original error of the prequels as a narrative is that they are ostensibly anakin's story when they ought to be obi wan's, especially since obi wan is, as a character, perfectly positioned to star in the story nathan describes
The retcon that the Clone troopers carried Order 66 because they had brain-control chips really strikes me as emblematic of why the Prequels fail:
