I think your career will survive—you can’t get off that easy.

You are also posting an attitude of self-inferiority which is equally implausible.

That’s the level I was trying to contribute on because I don’t see the broad phenomenon in the same way.

But there is a big generalization from a policy to a broad attitude. That’s what I’m questioning.

Putting aside the policy in your original post and speaking more generally, it’s possible that the center left is more self critical, doesn’t accept that people at universities are less legitimate than others but also don’t like the insularity and excesses.

A lot depends on how you curate your feed — none of these toxic accounts are in my following feed.

And I don’t think it is effectively better here.

Thanks

Actually it’s because I’ve curated my following feed and don’t interact with those people.

I think at a very general level it is universal but it manifests in specific ways in different groups and cultures.

There are analogous things elsewhere but the academic/progressive version has a distinctive style.

I notice it because I inhabit that culture.

That MAGA does something analogous is not a reason for us not to worry about it in our backyard.

I’m not sure, it’s very plausible and you might be right that social media exacerbates this problem.

Just as likely the one person disapproved and he lied about it

If you relatively recently started studying politics and think you have discovered a simple trick to generate a perpetual majority party and then win elections forever, and a large portion of the world is just too stupid to see it, I would ask you to consider that you might be overconfident.
