I looked up to see who Holt was, whether it was the older guy or the guy from Hamilton (sorry, I am not keeping up with actor names!), found his Wikipedia, and man, he had a hard life growing up. He was so grounded and amazing in that show.

I do think your challenge hits a brick wall at some point, because at some point our decision to do or not do something does rest in a shared morality, and are you asking students to explain morality?

I wrote an anti flag-burning essay in my freshman comp class and used all the crappy non-reasons that ppl give to support it. My TA graded it saying, “I uhh don’t think you actually support this, but…”. I think i titled my essay “It IS a Grand Old Flag”.
