In 1966 my parents were kids. State legislatures were still being desegregated & Black legislators were fighting to even be seated in them once they won elections. Now Trump is returning Jim Crow & my parents got only a taste of some decades in their lives without it.
Almost 100 years later, Georgia legislature refused to seat elected rep. Julian Bond (of SNCC) -- denying not only Bond but all those who elected him their democratic rights. He ran for empty seat, won, and again was denied the right. #TeachTruth

They didn't tell me when I was a girl that when I grew up I'd be walking down the street & my neighbor would stop to ask me if ICE left yet & a hippie dude with a long grey beard would be on a skateboard on the sidewalk shouting "Checkpoint ahead! Checkpoint ahead!" from a megaphone.
