The painting has the two girls, perhaps 11,12, or 13, looking eagerly at the sheet music in front of them. The girl seated at the piano has very long blond hair, with yellow and golden tones tied prettily with a blue bow, and wears a long white dress tied with blue ribbon. Her companion, leaning on the chair and piano, also has long hair, a beautiful rich brown, tied with a white and peach ribbon, and wears a long peach coloured dress. It's so long that some of it lies on the carpet behind her. They are both white, with pink cheeks. There are pretty, many-coloured flowers in a decorative blue and orange rounded vase on top of the piano, and behind the sisters, or friends, are blue, yellow, green and white curtains, painted impressionistically.

Amongst tufts of grass dance many yellow and a fair number of red tulips. They're gathered in indeterminate twosomes, threesomes etc and in intriguing shapes of many, suggestive of a happy gathering involving alcohol and smooching and sort of barn dancing and whooping and all that sort of thing. In the foreground on the left are the tops of purple flowers, alliums. Beyond them is an expanse of a vibrant azure blue sea with barely a ripple, and very light areas seemingly totally still, like a mirror. The far horizon is the thinnest of dark lines, and immediately above it a deep orange glow along the horizon celebrating the sun having set, melting into light yellow above it. And above the yellow is the same glorious azure of the sea. On the sea, in the distance, is a platform on which are a few young people. And on the horizon we can just about ascertain the tiny light of a boat which, upon zooming in, we see is a red cargo boat.

Nearest to us is an expanse of pink and light steel-blue sea. Near the horizon, the sky is a perfect sky-blue. Above that the blue transitions into pink, then the pink transitions into a light, creamy yellow.

One end of Weymouth Bay, in England. In front of us is wet sand, so we can see that the tide is going out. Beyond that is the calm sea, and both sea and sky are vivid blues, with a suggestion of pink in the sky from the sun going down behind us. Then a long pier and beyond that a small cliff with a fort atop it, and green trees further inland.
