Almighty Gods of Wisdom & Reason — don’t leave us!
When publishers push AI “reading assistants” message is clear: don’t bother reading. On top of don't-bother-writing attitude I see in reviewed papers, my feeling is that we are losing the very essence of #science.

There’s always that one trending paper that makes you pause… 🤔

Yesterday I read into a thread of comments under YT video of academic influencer discussing "5 unbelievably useful #AI tools for #research in 2025". Several concerns popped up: 🔢

🫣🤭🤔 I’m starting to believe the real epidemic isn't screens - it's the catastrophic failure to communicate science responsibly.

"Ancient neural network"? Sounds impressive… if you're writing sci-fi. This is how we end up with #neurobollocks spreading faster than good ideas.

We’ve been 10 years away from the #AI takeover for... 20 years now. Still waiting for my hoover to not wage war with furniture and for voice AI to transcribe 'buy milk' instead of 'die silk.' But yes, clearly #society is ready to trust robots with surgery and raising children. 🧵

Watching the news from the US feels like watching a poorly executed spin-off of the series 'Rome' that could be called 'Twilight of the Republic'.

@economist.com latest cover is spot on.

Let’s be clear: Trump didn’t end anything—he only tore away the last illusion. Europe loses here, but so does America. The difference? Europe can admit it; the U.S. will pretend it’s a win. The message is undeniable: no alliance with US is worth more than the paper it’s signed on.

When I read about it I thought it was a joke...

With one keystroke, Google Maps just lost all credibility. Renaming the Gulf of Mexico is historical revisionism - the kind Nazis and Soviets used to rewrite reality.

Really cool study with an epic cover in @natureportfolio.bsky.social , using high-resolution genomics to shed light on migrations in medieval times. An incredible glimpse into the past.

This statement assumes human-like intelligence is the 'pinnacle' of evolution. But that’s not how evolution works. Other species—like corvids, dolphins, and octopuses—evolved highly specialized forms of intelligence, adapted perfectly to their environments. 🧠🌳 1/🧵
