Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar. One of the most underrated and funniest films ever

My big takeaway from seeing Revenge of the Sith this week was a new appreciation for Anakin’s fall to the dark side, especially as a depiction of how fascists pinpoint your greatest fear and exploit it to the point that you willingly surrender your humanity until you are solely an arm of the state

Like Lucas’ writing can be really questionable, but by god this scene is actually kind of astonishing

Seeing it on the big screen for the first time really put into perspective just how grand in scale this film is. Ridiculous how many set pieces and big ideas are at play, which does make the film messy, but the big and broad emotions shined through a lot more to me this time

This was my favorite of the whole series as a kid, but mainly just as a compilation of action scenes and the best section of Lego Star Wars

Really enjoyed seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters this week. A flawed but undeniably grand and unbelievably dark film that also has my best friend General Grevious

Took an edible and watched Superman for the first time in my adult life and took pictures like I was at a concert

Snow White - there are moments of Zegler singing that are kinda transcendent. I appreciate some of the story additions and how the musical numbers are staged more theatrically. The dwarves belong in Zemeckis’ Beowulf. Gadot’s performance had me embarrassed for her.

The Little Mermaid - the stuff on land is kinda fun since the actors sell their chemistry and the locations are pretty. The underwater stuff is kind of a disaster. Why do the animals, and more importantly Javier Bardem, look like that
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Pinocchio - actually unwatchable. Completely pointless near shot for shot remake, except uglier. I would squash Joseph Gordon Jiminy Glick
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Cruella - seemed like a disastrous idea but surprisingly fun. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson fashion warfare is quite entertaining. Craig Gillespie put his back into it. Doesn’t take itself very seriously. Her mom getting killed by dogs is hilarious
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Mulan - had the most potential in adapting the story in a unique way but makes every wrong choice in a way that almost seems intentional. Why else would Mulan be a Jedi
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Maleficent Mistress of Evil - utter nonsense but I’d be lying if I said there isn’t a weird part of my brain that just nods along as long as there’s fantasy battle nonsense. Michelle Pfeiffer had fun
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
The Lion King - unlike most I didn’t hate it when it came out bc my feelings are aggressively neutral towards the OG. Impressive technically like Jungle Book but drastically uglier. Tech demo of a movie
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Aladdin - Takes the same approach as Beauty and the Beast but they nail the songs much better. Had a fun time at the theater but will never in my life rewatch
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Dumbo - Burton sneaks some interesting Disney satire in but the characters they add to the story are dreadfully boring
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Christopher Robin - quietly one of the most emotionally devastating movies of the decade that then remembers its a family film in the last 20 minutes to have a rushed hijinks-filled climax. Pooh has a line in the middle of this that made me cry
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Beauty and the Beast - it’s hard for me to be mad at such a faithful remake to a movie I like but this is where they start to be devoutly loyal to the animated source material to a fault. Luke Evans as Gaston the highlight. Whoever designed that dress should go to jail
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Pete’s Dragon - Not super memorable but better than it had any right to be. I’d pet that dragon
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Alice Through the Looking Glass - stupid time travel plot but I saw this on a first date and enjoyed laughing at the random vegetable soldiers
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
The Jungle Book - special effects felt really revolutionary at the time but definitely feels a little hollow now. Still works but you see the signs of what’s coming. Christopher Walken monkey A++
April 6, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Cinderella - no joke, magical. Easily Kenneth Branagh’s best blockbuster effort. I’d kill for that dress. Richard Madden is kind of incredible? Lily James u will always be famous.
Looking back this was def a big movie for me as a lil egg :)

Maleficent - desperately wants to be Wicked. Jolie’s great but lame that they couldn’t commit to her being a villain
