When prices rise because *demand* is hot, wages usually follow. When prices rise because tariffs raise costs -- a *supply* shock -- there’s no reason paychecks catch up. That’s why tariff inflation hurts a whole heckuva lot more. It's a permanent reduction in living standards.

I feel like “President of the United States suggests he would deport American citizens to prisons in El Salvador” should be fairly big news

They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported.
We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back.
That would be the end of democracy.

I lost my job, my kids have measles, and I had to drive my parents 200 miles to a Social Security office, but at least I know that immigrants are getting sent to torture prisons in El Salvador.
